Mariah Carey Remakes “The Roof” With Brandy

Mariah Carey goes back in time.

In honor of Mariah Carey’s Butterfly album’s 25th anniversary (Sep 16), Mariah Carey revisits a classic with a remake of “The Roof” featuring Brandy.

On the modern day duet, produced by the Trackmasters, Mimi polishes the record while Brandy adds her angelic vocals to the Mobb Deep-sampled song. “Brandy and I both loved the original background vocals arrangement of ‘The Roof; and decided we wanted to update it”, Mariah told PEOPLE in April.

The remake appears on Mariah Carey’s newly released, Butterfly: 25th Anniversary Expanded Edition, which features additional new remakes, remixes, and more. The highly-praised album, which has since been certified 5x platinum, marked Mariah’s sixth studio album and featured guests Puff Daddy, Q-Tip, Missy Elliott, and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony.
