Snag, the DIY screamo warriors hailing from Milwaukee, have long been known for crafting music that mirrors the visceral experience of a world collapsing. Their sound is defined by a raw, immediate expression of the anxiety inherent in living through end-times, delivered with a ferocity that demands attention. After years of carving out a space in the underground, the band has taken a significant step forward by signing with the Converge-affiliated label Deathwish, Inc., signaling a new chapter in their evolution.
This summer, the band is set to release their latest full-length project, titled All The Cages Holding Us Will One Day Turn To Dust. The album follows their 2021 effort Death Doula and their 2023 split LP with Coma Regalia. The recording process for this new collection was notably intense; the band tracked the music live to tape with engineer Nick Elert during a three-day sprint. While a studio power outage necessitated that the vocals be recorded separately, the resulting sound retains the band’s signature urgency.
The lead single, “Debilitated,” serves as a perfect introduction to the record’s dynamic range, beginning as a wall of fiery wreckage before giving way to intricate melodies and shifting dynamics. It is a testament to the band’s ability to find beauty within the inferno.
