Kevin Copeland Announces Debut Solo Album ‘Only Love Songs’

If you follow the indie music scene with any regularity, there is a strong chance you have already encountered the work of Kevin Copeland. The Vermont and NYC-based producer has left his mark on acclaimed albums by artists such as Hannah Frances, Allegra Krieger, Lily Seabird, and Lamplight. Having previously made his name as a member of the Big Net, Copeland is now preparing to step into the spotlight with his debut solo album, Only Love Songs, arriving July 2.

To mark the announcement, Copeland has shared the new single “Hotel Bar.” The track is a quintessential piece of melancholic roots rock, defined by tasteful pedal steel, warm low-end guitar work, and a lyrical vulnerability that feels both immediate and timeless. The song opens with a poignant reflection: “I was down at the hotel bar/ Trying to clear out my mind/ I like to think that I’m suffering/ But I know I’m doing just fine/ You like to think that you’re suffering/ But you know you’re doing just fine.” It is a track that will undoubtedly resonate with fans of Wilco.

You can watch the Ian Hatcher-Williams-directed video for “Hotel Bar” below, which also features the previously released single “Stay.”
