Labrinth Drops “SHUT YOUR DAMN 95.7892” Amidst Euphoria Departure

The UK musician Labrinth, who was instrumental in crafting the sleek, moody soundscapes that defined the first two seasons of HBO’s ultra-tawdry series Euphoria, has officially parted ways with the production. As the show returns for its long-awaited third season, it does so without his signature sonic touch. In a move that feels pointedly timed, Labrinth released a new single, “SHUT YOUR DAMN 95.7892,” just as the season premiere aired.

A Public Fallout

The tension between the artist and the show’s creative team has been building for some time. Back in 2025, it was announced that Labrinth would be collaborating with legendary composer Hans Zimmer to score the third season. However, reports suggest that the professional relationship between Labrinth and Euphoria showrunner Sam Levinson deteriorated significantly. Ultimately, Zimmer took over the scoring duties entirely.

The situation reached a boiling point last month when Labrinth took to social media to express his frustrations, stating, “Fuck Columbia. Double Fuck Euphoria. I’m out. Thank you and good night.” He later clarified his stance on his Instagram story, noting that he had “decided to remove” his music from the new season, adding, “I don’t let people treat me like shit.”

The New Single: A Defiant Statement

Labrinth, who released his most recent album Cosmic Opera: Act I on Columbia in January, seems to be channeling his recent industry grievances into his music. On Saturday night, he delivered a performance at Coachella’s Outdoor Theatre, and by the time the Euphoria season premiere began on Sunday, he had dropped “SHUT YOUR DAMN 95.7892.”

The track opens with a spoken-word narration: “I speak to the spirits, and the spirits tell you to shut your damn mouth.” Over a bubbling, cinematic electro beat, Labrinth delivers a series of biting lines, including: “Talk shit, gain clout, I don’t know what that’s about/ Busy tryna kill my shit while ignorin’ your own house.”

Speculation and Context

The timing and lyrical content of the song have fueled speculation that it serves as a direct response to his departure from the show. Labrinth shared an Instagram screenshot suggesting the track dates back to 2024, raising questions about whether it was originally intended for the Euphoria soundtrack or if it has evolved into a diss track aimed at the show’s leadership.

“SHUT YOUR DAMN 95.7892” is available now via Columbia.
