Offset Reportedly “Fine” After Being Shot Outside Florida Casino

An Incident at the Seminole Hard Rock

Atlanta rap star and former Migos member Offset was shot late last night outside of the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida. According to reports from TMZ, the artist, whose legal name is Kiari Kendrell Cephus, received immediate medical attention from paramedics at the scene before being transported to an area hospital. A spokesperson for the 34-year-old rapper has confirmed that he is currently stable, under close medical monitoring, and is expected to be “fine.”

Law enforcement officials stated that the shooting occurred in the casino’s valet area at approximately 7:00 PM. While the investigation remains ongoing, authorities have confirmed that the site is secure and there is no further threat to the public. Two individuals were detained shortly after the incident.

Developments in the Investigation

In a statement provided to ABC News, a representative for Offset noted, “We can confirm Offset was shot and is currently at the hospital receiving medical care. He is stable and being closely monitored.”

UPDATE: It has been revealed that Bronx-based rapper Lil Tjay (Tione Jayden Merritt) was one of the two individuals detained by police. While Tjay is not facing charges related to the shooting itself, police allege he was involved in a physical altercation that preceded the gunfire. Tjay was booked on a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct-affray. Following his release on a $500 bond, the 24-year-old rapper made headlines by referring to Offset as a “rat” while speaking to the media outside the jail.

A History of Violence in the Industry

This incident brings renewed attention to the dangers faced by prominent figures in the hip-hop community. The industry is still reeling from the 2022 tragedy in which Offset’s former Migos bandmate, Takeoff, was shot and killed outside a Houston bowling alley at the age of 28. Furthermore, Lil Tjay himself has previously survived a life-threatening encounter, having been shot seven times in New Jersey in 2022.
