Samia started off 2020 impressively with “Is There Something In The Movies?” Today she returned with another solid song and news of her official debut album, The Baby, out at the end of August.
The album news arrives alongside “Fit N Full,” a pop-minded indie-rock track that sends Samia’s voice soaring on its memorable chorus: “It’s so hot/ In this restaurant/ I might just get fully naked.” In a press release, Samia explains that the song is rooted in struggles with body image:
For some reason the words “fit” and “full” have always felt mutually exclusive to me. I wrote this while I was living in the east village, so overwhelmed by the magic and culture around me and literally only capable of thinking about my fucking body. I tried to write this from the perspective of the person I wanted to be instead of the person who stares at her reflection in the window of Veselka.
