Sci-Fi Sounds and Surprises: Igor Keller’s Next Experiment

Seattle-based musician Igor Keller, the driving force behind Longboat, is setting the stage for another inventive chapter with his upcoming album The Merry Blacksmith’s Song Bucket

New Energy, New Ideas, Same Fearless Spirit

Even after releasing more than 30 albums, Igor Keller continues to evolve with fearless creativity. His upcoming album, The Merry Blacksmith’s Song Bucket, blends jazz-inspired pop, electronic tones, and hints of electronic blues, delivering music that’s bold, and full of surprises. The opening song for his new album is called “Monster Zero,” and here’s the story behind it:

I love Godzilla movies, and I know there’s a film called Godzilla vs. Monster Zero,” Keller shares. “I wanted to create my own version — one without Godzilla to save the world.”

It’s going to be even more intriguing as Igor Keller revealed that the track closes with an unexpected twist: “We’re rescued by an unlikely instrument. I’ll let listeners find out which one for themselves.

How The Merry Blacksmith’s Song Bucket Came to Life

After wrapping up his previous album Word Gets Around, Igor Keller got straight into creating The Merry Blacksmith’s Song Bucket. “There’s a continuation of the short story idea, but this time, there’s a stronger sci-fi thread running through it,” he shares.

The new record also introduces the artist’s first use of the vocoder, adding a modern edge to his sound. He doesn’t hide the fact that it was intimidating at first, however he states that “once you learn how to use it wisely, it brings something that feels both new and strangely familiar.”

Fans can expect more surprises as the album’s release date approaches, as Igor Keller will mark his comeback with music that feels both fresh and intriguing.

Get ready, as Igor Keller’s upcoming album promises to add a spark of mystery and mischief full of curious sounds.
