BET celebrated hip hop’s biggest names during their 16th annual BET Hip Hop Awards at Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in Atlanta.
Previously recorded and aired on Tuesday (Oct. 5), Young Thug and Gunna opened up the show on a snow falling and animated set with a medley of “Tick Tock”, “Too Easy” and “Ski”.
BIA kept it lavish with a performance of “Whole Lotta Money” and was joined by Lil Jon for his crunk hit “BIA BIA”. Baby Keem repped the West on a fiery set for “family ties”, and Latto brought the slot machines out for “Soufside” and “Big Energy” performance.
Tobe Nwigwe, Fat, and Nel took the audience to church with a lit performance of “Fye Fye” and Isaiah Rashad brought the hood out for “Wat U Sed” and “From The Garden” with Doechii and Kal Banx.
Nelly was this year’s I Am Hip Hop Award recipient and lit up the stage with a medley of his biggests hits. LL Cool J was awarded Global Entertainment Award, and Tyler, The Creator was honored this year’s Rock The Bells Cultural Influence Award.
Other notable wins throughout the evening included Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s “WAP”, which took both Best Hip Hop Video and Best Collaboration. Nipsey Hussle and JAY-Z’s “What It Feels Like” won this year’s Impact Track, while JAY won Best Featured Verse from the collaboration. For a second year in a row, Hit-Boy was named Producer Of The Year.
Yung Bleu was bestowed this year’s Best New Artist, while Saweetie earned her Hustler Of The Year. Lil Baby took both Artist Of The Year, and Best Duo/Group with Lil Durk. J.Cole was dubbed Lyricist Of The Year and Tyler, The Creator won Best Live Performer and Album Of The Year with his latest LP, Call Me If You Get Lost. Full list of nominees and winners here.
