Bright Eyes are fresh off the release of their first album in nine years, Down In The Weeds, Where The World Once Was. Over the weekend, the newly-reunited band appeared on CBS This Morning to perform a couple of songs for it, and they also recorded a live performance for SiriusXM Sessions.
Included with their performance is a fresh cover of Thin Lizzy’s “Running Back,” which was intended to be the lead single from the Irish rock band’s 1976 album Jailbreak but was pushed out in favor of a little ditty known as “The Boys Are Back In Town.” (Coincidentally, a massive Thin Lizzy box set was just announced in honor of the band’s 50th anniversary.) Bright Eyes’ version of “Running Back” is a little rootsier but keeps the song’s sense of calm determination.
