Fresh off the release of his Black On Purpose album, Salaam Remi shares the powerful video to his Nina Simone remake.
Directed by himself and Tatiana Crooks, the purple-filtered visual follows Remi’s journey through the country where he visions the racism and lynching that is still present today.
The late Betty Wright, who unfortunately passed on Mother’s Day, sings the 1954 Billie Holiday classic “Strange Fruit” which was also remade by Nina Simone on 1965.
