Welcome home, B.G.

After a decade-long bid, Cash Money rapper B.G. has finally been released from prison.

On Tuesday (Sep. 5), footage from Birdman’s Instagram live showed the New Orleans native and walking out of federal prison where he was embraced by family, friends and gifts.

B.G., born Christopher Dorsey, was arrested in 2009 along with two associates during a traffic stop in New Orleans. Police discovered three firearms, two which were reportedly stolen. B.G. later obstructed justice by pushing one of the associates to falsely claim ownership of the firearms. In 2012, he was sentenced to 14 years for two counts of possession of a firearm and one count of conspiracy to obstruct justice.

B.G. celebrated his 43rd birthday on Sunday (Sep. 3) and hinted his early release with a post on his Instagram handle.

“After 12 winters and 13 summers, I see the end zone. It’s my last #Birthday being buried alive,” said B.G. “This year I’m celebrating the whole Virgo cycle, matter of fact, from this year forward I’m living and celebrating like everyday is #MyBIRTHDAY.”

He continued, “The main focus, is to stay focused. I’m not letting nobody rob me of my productivity, prosperity, positivity and peace of mind. My dreams then got bigger and my vision is clearer.
13 years was more then enough time for me to change the reckless path I was on.”

B.G. rose to prominence as a member and co-founder of the Cash Money group, Hot Boys, along with Juvenile, Lil Wayne, and Turk. Together they released their 1999 platinum album Guerrilla Warfare, which spawned the hits “I Need a Hot Girl” and “We on Fire”. The same year, B.G released his Chopper City In The Ghetto album which featured the hit “Bling Bling”, a collaboration with his fellow Hot Boys Lil Wayne, Juvenile, and Turk, as well as the Cash Money duo Big Tymers, Birdman and Mannie Fresh.
