Guess who’s back?

After a brief hiatus, Janelle Monae makes her epic return with her new single, “Float” featuring Nigerian musician Seun Kuti and his band, Egypt 80.

For her first single in nearly five years, the Grammy-nominated songstress belts celebrated her carefree life over a retro production by Nana Kwabena, Nate “Rocket” Wonder, and Sensei Bueno.

““No I’m not the same/ I think I done changed/ See something not the same/ I used to walk into the room head down/ I don’t walk, now I float/ Float all of my../ Float all of this../ Float,””

“Float” marks Janelle Monae’s first official release since her 2018 album, Dirty Computer. In 2020, she released “Turntables” off the soundtrack to Amazon Studios documentary, All In: The Fight For Democracy and “Stronger” from the soundtrack to Netflix’s We The People in 2021.
