Hannah Georgas – "Dreams"

Hannah Georgas has already had a long and acclaimed career in her native Canada. After her last album, 2016’s For Evelyn, her world began to spread out a bit: She started working with Aaron Dessner, and she spent much of last year touring in the National’s expanded live lineup behind I Am Easy To Find. In recent months, she’s started releasing singles from her sessions with Dessner, including “That Emotion” and “Same Mistakes.” And today, she’s announced that those are from a new album. It’s called All That Emotion, and it’ll be out in September.

“I have been thinking about what this album represents to me and it is resilience,” Georgas said in a statement. “It’s about finding hope and a way out the other side of tough situations. The hardships we go through make us grow into stronger people. The album is about healing, self reflection, and getting up again at the end of the day.” Billed as a more personal album, All That Emotion features an old family photo as its cover art, and deals with change and relationships and the insights you get through the people that surround you in life.

Along with the announcement, Georgas has shared another new single called “Dreams.” “In my past, I have let my insecurities play into relationships and have pushed people away because I have felt like I’m not deserving of love,” she said of the track. “This song explores the idea of breaking down those barriers of insecurity and being more open.” Musically, “Dreams” is a gently thrumming track that perfectly balances Dessner’s production style with Georgas’ communicative, reflective vocals.
