Madonna is preparing for the release of her highly anticipated project Confessions II, slated for next month. Following a high-profile takeover of Times Square to celebrate this new era, the pop icon has now unveiled a star-studded film directed by Torso that serves as a visual companion to the upcoming album.
The film is structured across six chapters, each previewing a track from the forthcoming record. The visual experience is surreal and immersive, blending abstract imagery with commentary on the sanctity of the dance floor. “Thanks for coming. Sometimes I like to just hide in the shadows. Create a new persona, a different identity. I can be whoever I want to be,” Madonna says at the opening of the visual. “People think that dance music is superficial. But they’ve got it all wrong. The dance floor is not just a place; it’s a threshold, a ritualistic space where movement replaces language.”
The film is packed with unexpected moments, including a sequence set in a misty forest illuminated by lasers. The official visual for her collaboration with Sabrina Carpenter, “Bring Your Love,” is also integrated into the project, featuring the two artists navigating a crowded, dark dance floor. Notably, Julia Garner, who is slated to portray the singer in an upcoming biopic, makes a cameo during this segment.
The project boasts an expansive list of guest appearances, ranging from musicians to actors. The cast includes Arca, Honey Dijon, Shygirl, Benedict Cumberbatch, Odessa A’zion, Gwendoline Christie, Richard E. Grant, Debi Mazar, Kate Moss, Archie Madekwe, João Pedro, and Cole Palmer. The film concludes with an appearance by her daughter, Lourdes Leon.
Confessions II is scheduled for release on July 3 via Warner.
