Ringo Starr is once again proving that his creative engine shows no signs of slowing down. The iconic drummer for The Beatles revealed this past weekend that his upcoming mini-album, EP3, is slated for release this September. The project follows in the footsteps of his 2021 EP, Change The World, maintaining his recent focus on shorter, high-impact musical releases.
In a press release regarding the new project, Starr shared his enthusiasm for the format, stating, “I am in my studio writing and recording every chance I get. It’s what I have always done and will continue to do, and releasing EPs more frequently allows me to continue to be creative and give each song a little more love.”
Fans can expect the signature sound that has defined Starr’s solo career, with the artist promising “instantly-recognizable vocals, feel-good lyrics, and easy-breezy melodies.” The mini-album will feature four brand-new tracks, bolstered by a roster of esteemed collaborators including Bruce Sugar, Linda Perry, Dave Koz, Jose Antonio Rodriguez, and Steve Lukather.
To mark the announcement, Starr has unveiled a music video for his latest single, “World Go Round.” The mid-tempo track serves as a poignant reminder of unity, featuring lyrics that encourage listeners to rise above division: “We can try to rise above/ It only takes a little love/ Hey, hey/ We all make the world go ’round/ You’re not alone in this/ We all make the world go ’round.”
Since the dissolution of The Beatles, Starr has maintained a prolific output, releasing 20 solo albums beginning with 1970’s Sentimental Journey. His most recent full-length studio effort, What’s My Name, arrived in 2019. Now 82, the legendary musician remains as active as ever, having rarely taken significant breaks throughout his storied career. Beyond his musical contributions, Starr is also an accomplished author, having published three books, most notably 2015’s Photograph.
